Windy conditions can increase the heat time and expose pellets' biggest flaw, flame maintenance. The Fyra 12 can reach ideal temperatures for pizza making, but it won't stay there. Even in perfect conditions, it takes just a few minutes to make a Neapolitan-style pizza. The oven also requires some time for recovery between pies.
There are many things that pellets can do. They and they burn very efficiently, as they were mentioned earlier. This is however disputed when it comes to cooking at high temperatures necessary for pizza-making.
Ooni Fyra's pizza oven can be used outdoors. Light the fire starter, place the tray on the surface and then slide it back into the oven. This will serve as the foundation of your fire. You can check the flames through a window in the oven's front to see how they are progressing. After the flames have stopped blazing, add more fuel to the pellethopper to maintain a steady flow of fuel into the fire. If you want your fire to burn strong, a hopper filled with pellets will last about 15 minutes. You can't leave it alone for too long, and the temperature will drop. This cannot be fixed simply by adding more pellets.
Ooni recommends that you place your pizza oven in an area where there is no wind. Also, keep it at least 3ft (1 m) away of structures to get the best results. The manual advises that it be placed on wood, stone, marble, and stainless steel surfaces.
Ooni has added an inch of opening beside the handle, which is something that was missing in other models. The peephole allows you to see the pizzas from inside without having to open the door. However, we couldn't get a clear view after making a few pizzas.
We tested the Ooni Fyra portable pizza oven to determine if it can handle family pizza nights.
Ooni's pizza oven revolution has been difficult to ignore. The popularity of the Ooni pizza ovens has skyrocketed since 2012 when their first model was released. There are five models available. Prices range from $349 - $799. All models can only be used outdoors. The marketing suggests that you can use them outdoors, regardless of your outdoor space (photos from camping trips and fire escape pizzas are posted on their Instagram), and whatever level you are comfortable with fire cooking. I took that wager.
The Fyra delivers its promise of portability. The oven cavity can accommodate the chimneys and the legs are easily folded up. The exterior powder-coated is durable and scratch resistant, weighing in at 20 pounds.
The Ooni Fyra 12 portable pie oven is light and compact and can be easily carried from the roof. The company's cheapest model is currently available. The best part is that it can be powered by wood pellets, which you can feed into the oven's back. It is forbidden to light or re-arrange charcoal or logs, nor touch a propane tank.
With no built-in thermometer, it's a bit of guess work as to when the pizza oven is up to the top temperature and ready for cooking, but I found that in most weather conditions 15 minutes was long enough for it to get up to heat. A good indication of it being ready is to check through the viewing hole and if you can see rolling flames (where the flames reach up and along the roof of the oven), it's ready for cooking.
To get started, you first need to remove the chimney cap. Next, remove the grate and fill it with hardwood pellets. I followed the guidelines and used about two handfuls to get started. You then add a firelighter to the front of the grate (I used the Ooni firelighters, which we had been provided with), light it and push the grate into the back of the pizza oven.
The Ooni Fyra's design is still very similar to the Ooni Fyra and other Ooni models. It maintains the Ooni Pizza Oven's iconic dome shape. It looks very similar to Ooni Karu, Ooni 3 and Ooni 3 models.
I cooked the pizzas in Ooni Fyra by heating it up for 30 minutes and then letting it cool down. Ooni says that this is important in order to remove any residues of the manufacturing process prior to cooking in it.
Only two issues with the overall design. Also, the firebox in back is too small. It makes it difficult to maintain an even flame.
Ooni suggests that you run your Fyra at full heat for 30 minutes to get rid of any leftover food.
The pellets are a versatile product that has a lot of benefits. They burn efficiently, which is something that has been mentioned before. But this can be disputed when you cook at the high temperatures required for good pizza-making.
Since receiving our Ooni Fyra pizza oven, we've since spent many an afternoon and evening having garden pizza parties as a family, and when lockdown rules allowed us to welcome other people into our garden too we happily cooked pizzas for everyone with ease.
Ooni recommends that the best spot for your pizza oven is an area sheltered from wind and 3ft (1m) away from structures for best results. The manual also advises that it should be placed on wooden, stone, marble or stainless steel surfaces.
First, you will need to remove the chimney cover. Next, remove and replace the chimney cap. I followed the directions and used around two handfuls to get me started. Add a firelighter, such as the Ooni ones that were provided, to the front of grate. Light it and push it into the back.

It would be a great idea to invest in a pizza peel. Without one, it would be almost impossible to bake a pizza in an oven. I also plan to buy another one to make it easier for me to set up a little production line. It's not necessary to cook for four people. However, if you cater to more people you might find it useful to be able prepare another pizza on the second peel.
The next evening, we were ready to go! After making a huge batch, my husband and I turned our small garden table into a pizza maker. We have made homemade pizzas before.
Absolutely. It may take some trial and error, along with finding recipes online, but you can certainly roast incredible fish dishes in a pizza oven.
